I am me.

So I'm not really sure of how to start this 'blog', partially because I'm not used to writing in such a fashion. I could sit and talk about my nonprofit organization I created, my constant involvement in both Beth El Congregation and the Hebrew School, or my love of being Jewish which can be seen through many things including my participation every summer at Capital Camps...but most of you already know this stuff. I'd like to try for something a little more original. I guess I'll just go for it.

“Live, Learn, Laugh, Love”

This is what I live by. As a person living in society today, I believe it is best to live life to the fullest every day. I always try to live every day as though it is my last. This can be tough at times; due to the overwhelming peer pressure in our culture nowadays. However, I think that even the best people make mistakes, and mistakes are made to be learned from. Learning, to me, does not have to occur in the classroom setting. As Oscar Wilde said, “Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught”. I deem this to mean that experience is the key. People learn the best when they do it on their own, therefore you need a good, optimistic attitude for learning to occur. Henry Ford states, “If you think you can do a thing or you think you cannot do a thing, you are right”. Although at the time I do not like when I make mistakes, I value the lessons that I learn. This is why I do not and will not ever regret a single thing I choose to do. Laughing. Everyone needs to laugh. I have always been told, laughter is the best medicine. Laughing is what I do when I make mistakes, when I am enjoying life, and living life. I remember, “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.” Love. I love the world. I think it is important to live your life without regrets, and to love everyone. There are too many people who have feelings of hate in them and it is both stressful and hard to deal with. I try to find good in everyone and to love them for who they are.

“We are the authors of our own lives”
Peter Senge

As a student and instructor at American Academy of Martial Arts, we are constantly told to not allow other people to run our lives. We are taught to hold our heads high and to not let anyone make us mad, because the truth is, you are the only person who can make yourself angry, sad, or happy. In addition, acts of kindness are always good, no matter how big or small. “It is not how much you do, but how much love you put in the doing”. Although I love to think big and my dreams are always great in size, I am learning that everything I do has an impact on others, whether I see it or not. In addition, I try to be my own person. As an individual, I enjoy making my own stories. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” I constantly love to change the pace and do things other people have not yet done. Adam Urbanski agrees saying, “If we always do what we’ve always done, we will get what we’ve always got.”

Finally, I believe that learning and living is something that should always be done in the current time. It was said, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift; that’s why they call it the present.”
